| Training and Employment Using a Social Entrepreneurship model, micro-credit loans are provided our student's in exchange for the training provided. This is a 450 hour, full-time, fourteen week course, six days a week. A deposit commensurate with each student's economic background is required to secure the training position as a gesture of commitment and "good faith". This ensures a sense of value to the training, and also encourages the development of initiative, responsibility, and pride, rather than simply providing a hand-out. Employment is guaranteed within our various spa boutiques for every student that graduates from our project. Following a profit sharing model - with collective decision making, regular group meetings, and review - our graduate students share a strong sense of loyalty and ownership regarding our overall project. This structure also facilitates a sense of pride and personal achievement for our students rather than reinforcing dependency or a loss of control. Coupled with substantial individual income, this provides independence, confidence, and significant personal growth, both individually and within the community as a whole. Once employment is arranged, and our students are financially secure, the micro-credit loan is repaid to the Himalayan Healer's "house". These funds are in turn leveraged to provide the next group of student's training. This provides a level of self-sustaining financial support, so that once seed money or a student's training is paid for, that funding will continue to have a positive, effective impact on many more students' lives. Himalayan Healers is an innovative, pioneering project – the first of it’s kind in the world. We are the only project that is directly addressing the issues of “Untouchability” via the instruction of Touch Therapies. This provides a level of healing on a personal and community level – in a peaceful manner – that is immeasurable. Himalayan Healers also recognizes that Nepal is a nation of need – As such, we have open admissions and provide training and support to any and all. As a result, our training and employment has also focused upon assisting victims of human trafficking, victims of domestic violence, war widows, and others of profound need.
